Mega Drone X Race Requirements
AMA Card is required to race
Frame/Prop: Frames 300mm or less motor to motor. 5" props max and 6s max battery will be allowed. * Course 2 will be a much smaller track but a 5" will be fine. (Ground Stations are provided on both courses you need your own goggles or monitor).
Led Requirements: Led light on top & bottom of quad. Only one per side is required but more the better. This just isn't to look cool although it does look amazing it's for safety and to allow the track marshals to be able to see your quad if and when you do crash for quad retrieval.
Video Transmitters: 25mw VTX's we recommend for MDX are the TBS Unify Pro or the Immersion Tramp. You can run what you have but If you show up with a cheap VTX and during tech inspection before or during the race and its broadcasting more power that would cause a issue you will be asked to please replace it. The timing system will catch those issues if it comes up or problems with ghosting over someone else's video feed. We have to be strict on this rule because we do not want video issues to cause problems for others or interfere on the other course.
RHCP and LHCP are required.
VTX antenna placement needs to be in the optimal location on your quad. If you have it placed deep in between carbon fiber plates please don't complain if your video is not up to par with others. Receiver Antenna: Your RX antenna's need to also be placed in the optimal location not stuck in between carbon plates. If you are using a lemon rx with those tiny antenna's make sure they are out in the open and not blocked by the carbon plates on your frame. You will fail safe behind the last pillar if you do not take these steps to prepare your quad.
How To Dress And Be Prepared:
Mega Caverns stays 58 degrees Fahrenheit year around, wear long pants bring hoodies, sweatshirt or light jacket to stay warm, when you're not moving around it will get chilly. Good walking or hiking shoes are also recommended for the terrain. Remember we are in a massive man made cavern there will be dirt and rock everywhere.
There is plenty of light but a cheap Led Headlamp might come in handy to help work on your quad if it was to get damaged and require fixing or rebuilding. If you have a lot of gear please bring a cart to transport it into the cavern. There will be plenty of tables and chairs provided in the pits along with power to charge your batteries and solder if needed. Food: Food Trucks will arrive topside for us Lunch and Dinner.
Code of Conduct: No Flying outside of the Caverns in the parking lot we are within 5 miles of Louisville International Airport. Please be courteous to each other and polite to Mega Cavern Staff. No smoking in the Cavern. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
